SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Association of California Insurance Companies
(ACIC) today announced the launching of its new, user-friendly Web site to
provide information about the association’s
activities in the California legislative, regulatory, media and
legal arenas.
The site’s address is www.acicnet.org.
“Our new Web site is designed to allow visitors to easily navigate
to the association’s positions on key property/casualty
insurance issues pending in California. The site also contains association
news releases as well as relevant news clips,” said ACIC President Sam Sorich.
He noted visitors will find on the site’s home page convenient pull-down menus and a prominent section for
“Hot Topics,” which are brief reports on important insurance topics, public
policy issues and Capitol developments. Also on the home page visitors are
directed to the latest message from Sorich.
The general categories for the pull-down menus are: About ACIC,
Legislation, Regulation, News, Legal and Web Resources. The menus have
subcategories that will allow the visitor to drill down more quickly to the
exact information being sought.
For example, under Legislation, the categories are
insurance-related Senate Bills and Assembly Bills, which are listed
numerically. The bills also are listed by subject. In each case, the visitor
will find bills on which ACIC has taken a position and has written a letter of
opposition or support to the appropriate legislative body or to the governor.
Available for each bill is a link to a site that provides complete
information on the legislation – such as amendments, actions already taken in
the legislative process and staff analyses. Similar links are provided for
greater information in the Regulation and Legal sections.
“ACIC redesigned its site with our visitors uppermost in mind – to
make important information available and easily accessible. Because of its
design and content, we believe the site will be a valuable resource for
policymakers, the media and general public interested in our issues,” said
Sorich.
There is no
firewall, all the information on the site is public and, therefore, no password
or username is required.
