Wildfire Reality Check: Survey of Financial Preparedness Awareness

California Fire Safe Council and the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America partnership to build awareness of insurance issues and preparedness for wildfires

It is another intense wildfire season in California as fires starts are up more than 1,600 from the five year average and the numbers of acres burned are more than double previous years, according to Cal Fire. These dramatic numbers highlight the reality of California’s year-round fire season and the impact four years of extreme drought conditions are having on the Golden State.

California Fire Safe Councils and communities understand the importance of debris clearance and being “Ready and Set to Go!” and the loss of nearly 3,000 homes, businesses and structures from this year’s Valley and Butte Fires underscores the need to also be financially prepared for wildfires. With this in mind, the California Fire Safe Council is partnering with the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America to spread word about how to financially and physically prepare for a wildfire.

Please take a few moments to complete this survey to share your knowledge of financial preparedness. Your feedback will give us a baseline of understanding about insurance issues and financial preparedness. This will help us design future consumer education campaigns. We look forward to your feedback and a productive dialogue on how to get families and communities Ready and Set to Go!
