Fighting Accident Response Fees
Local Governments Capitalizing on Motorist Misfortune

The Property Casualty Insurers Association of America (PCI) is a vocal opponent of municipalities charging accident response fees when police or fire department personnel respond to a traffic accident. Public safety is a basic role of government and it's paid for through state and local taxes. These fees are a new attempt to raise revenues, without directly raising taxes. If insurers were forced to begin covering these services, insurance costs would increase and that could ultimately affect the premiums you pay.
