2014 Hurricane Season Predicted to be Another Quiet Year
Media Center | PCI At Work
The well respected The Tropical Meteorology Project headed by Colorado State University forecasts a mild 2014 hurricane season with nine tropical storms, of which only three will develop into hurricanes. While this might point to a quiet season, PCI says it’s important to remember that it only takes one storm to cause massive amounts of damage.
Now is the time to prepare your home, and be ready for severe weather. It’s a good idea to have a conversation with your insurer or agent to make sure you’re adequately covered. Additionally you should consider purchasing flood insurance. Keep in mind that it takes 30 days for flood insurance to become effective and the 2014 hurricane season begins June 1.
PCI urges homeowner, businesses and renters to take this time before hurricane season to get ready. It’s important to have emergency kits and evacuation plans in place, and take steps to stormproof your home so you are ready for whatever hurricane season may bring.
PCI has a wide range of resources available to help homeowners and business prepare for the upcoming 2014 hurricane season. Follow us on twitter @PCIAA use #becovered to keep the conversation going.
